Do you know the difference between a Gemologist and an Appraiser? A gemologist has been trained to grade all gemstones and diamonds. An appraiser does market research and values the jewelry items with legal documents. This could be for purpose of insurance, estate or, divorce. Each has its own requirements. A jewelry appraiser is both a gemologist and an appraiser. A trained appraiser has both the knowledge of the jewelry industry along with the training in jewelry manufacturing.
